Horse Council

Formed in 2010, the PennAg Horse Council has united stakeholders to strengthen the future of the equine industry in Pennsylvania. Its mission is to address the issues and concerns of Pennsylvania horse breeders and allied support industries. The council works to promote and protect the concerns of the Pennsylvania horse industry and provides support to all equine related agriculture interest, through the expansion and enhancement of relationships with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture; Horse and Harness Racing Commissions; the Pennsylvania Legislature and the Governor's Office.

In September 2010, a letter was sent to members of the horse industry in Pennsylvania making everyone aware of regulation changes to the Manure Management Manual which will have an impact on the industry. To view the letter visit the
Members Only page (Comments Filed section) or contact the PennAg office.

A decision was made on Friday, December 10, 2010 affirming that
a stable for race horses is exempt from the Uniform Construction Code as an ag building. Although there was not much disagreement on this issue, we now have clear affirmation of the ruling.
