Each year, PennAg hosts a meeting for members and friends of the association. The 133rd Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Lancaster Host Resort & Conference Center, Lancaster. The day consisted of educational sessions, networking opportunities, fellowship and association updates.
The focus of the event was 'Discovering Opportunity through Challenge,' and participants had the opportunity to view and discuss the movie Food, Inc., which was followed by a panel discussion of the movie. Panelists included: Charlie Arnot (Center for Food Integrity); Kimberly O'Brien (Monsanto); Kay Johnson (Animal Ag Alliance); and Brian Snyder (PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture).
The group also heard from keynote speaker, Charlie Arnot (Center for Food Integrity, CMA) as he presented information on 'Re-defining Agriculture to Build Consumer Trust.'
A one-page informative document has been developed and was distributed to Annual Meeting attendees. The document contains information pertaining to the agriculture industry including: Facts & Figures; Did You Know?; and Resourceful Web Sites. Please download and refer to when in need of agriculture industry information.
The event also included the annual Spring Banquet, featuring the presentation of the 2011 Distinguished Service Awards, presented to former PA Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding and former PennAg Treasurer and Land O' Lakes Purina Feed employee, Bud Caton. Keeping the audience thoroughly entertained during his presentation, Comedian Damian Mason concluded the evening.
Thanks to our many sponsors and participants, the 2011 PennAg Annual Meeting & Spring Banquet was a huge success!
