Agronomic Products Council
The Agronomic Products Council (APC) represents those who serve the crop industry in Pennsylvania. With assistance from the American Crop Protection Association, the Fertilizer Institute and Agricultural Retailers Association, APC members keep informed of pending items at the national level.

APC was instrumental in obtaining the Act 23 amendments to the Tax Code. With these amendments, companies involved in processing, blending and packaging of fertilizers can expect reductions on certain taxes. One of the amendments exempts fertilizer equipment used in the manufacturing process between material stroage bins or tanks and ultimate delivery container such as bag, bulk transport, farm truck, etc. from Pennsylvania Sales and Use Tax. Also included in the amendment is the elimination of the Capital Stock and Franchise Tax for fertilizer processing, blending and packaging operations.

The APC and Seed Council met together for a summer tour on September 14. Attendees had the opportunity to visit Utz Potato Chips, Miller Chemical and Hanover Shoe Farms.

The APC also hosted an APC & Seed Council Annual Winter Meeting last December at Cabela's, Hamburg, PA. The meeting featured a Regulatory Update from the PA Department of Agriculture; an update on Pesticide Dealer Manager Training; an update from CropLife America; an Atrazine update; and finally an update on the Chesapeake Bay. CCA and Pesticide Credits were offered. Meeting minutes from the event are currently posted on the Members Only page.

PennAg members are encouraged to attend the annual Agronomic Products Council / Seed Council winter meeting on Wednesday, November 9 at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, East Earl. The business meeting of the Seed Council will be held at 8:30 a.m., the joint council meeting at 10:00 a.m. and the Agronomic Products Council business meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. Download a registration brochure for additional information or to register.
