Under the PennAg umbrella are eight self-governed councils. Each council is focused on specific support ans service sectors of the agriculture industry and meets regularly to address issues unique to their members. Council actions are forwarded to the Board as recommendations. When approved, they become association policy.

All PennAg members are eligible for membership in one or more of the eight PennAg councils. Each council is provided with PennAg staff support and coordination. In addition to the general benefits offered by PennAg, the council structure allows the association to work with industry members to promote food safety, increase member involvement in commodity promotion, and expand and enhance relationships with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and other regulatory agencies.
